The crew neck and the v-neck are the two workhorses of any t-shirt drawer, and choosing between them is mostly about balance and proportion.
The crew neck is the classic: a round, close-fitting collar that frames the shoulders and works under everything from a flannel to a blazer. It is clean, versatile and rarely wrong. The v-neck opens up the neckline, which lengthens the torso and is especially flattering on rounder or shorter necks. A shallow v reads smart-casual; a deeper v leans more relaxed.
A good rule of thumb: reach for a crew neck when you want a timeless, layered look, and a v-neck when you want to open up the collar or wear the tee on its own. Most wardrobes are better with a few of each.
