The fit of a t-shirt does more for your look than the colour or the print ever will. Get it right and even the simplest cotton tee looks considered; get it wrong and the nicest fabric in the world hangs awkwardly.
Start with the shoulder seam — it should sit right at the edge of your shoulder, not halfway down your arm. From there, the body should skim your torso without pulling across the chest or ballooning at the waist. A regular fit suits most people and layers easily. A slim fit follows the body more closely and works well on its own, while a boxy or relaxed fit gives a roomier, more casual silhouette.
When in doubt, size up rather than down: a tee that is slightly loose reads as intentional, while one that is too tight rarely does. Check the length too — the hem should fall just past your waistband so it stays tucked-friendly without looking like a tunic.
